Q1: How do you address visible weld lines or flow marks on the passenger airbag cover surface?
Weld lines affect aesthetics and can cause stress concentration. Our engineers utilize mold flow analysis software to optimize gate locations and adjust injection speed and pressure parameters. We also implement cold slug well designs to effectively eliminate weld lines, ensuring a smooth and uniform surface finish.
Q2: How is the uniformity of the tear line thickness ensured in the mold?
The tear line (weak line) is the technical core of the airbag cover. During mold manufacturing, we use highprecision Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and strictly control the machining depth tolerance to micron levels. We also perform 100% inspection using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure the tear line ruptures accurately upon impact while maintaining structural integrity during normal use.
